What is a root canal?
A root canal is a procedure in which the pulp of the tooth is removed and replaced with a compatible restorative material. The pulp contains blood vessels and nerves giving the tooth life. When the pulp is affected by decay, trauma, or a cracked tooth, root canal therapy may need to be performed.
Does a root canal hurt?
No! Root canals are performed in the same manner as a standard filling. You will be numbed for the entirety of the procedure to ensure a comfortable visit.
What happens after I receive a root canal?
After the pulp is removed from your tooth, you may have fleeting symptoms for a few days after. This is normal. Once the root canal is complete, the tooth can become weak or brittle in the future. We may recommend a post, core, and crown to protect the longevity of the tooth.
